Cambodia Gambling Dens

by Cassius on Apr.11, 2024, under Casino

There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the border from next door Thailand, where casino wagering is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are based in a generally tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime destination, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; still, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 1700, and despite the fact visas are supposedly required to pass, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship casino, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are 150 slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international resort and hotel building that features many comforts aside from the gambling den, which houses ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 gaming tables.
